This rich and creamy keto chocolate cottage cheese mousse is my go-to when I want something sweet, fast, and not wildly off-plan. With just three ingredients and a blender, you’ll have dessert ready in five minutes flat.
No eggs, no gelatin, no fluff. Just cottage cheese, cocoa powder, and a low-carb sweetener. It’s shockingly satisfying for something so simple. You can even double or triple the batch if you’re sharing (or, let’s be honest, meal-prepping desserts for yourself).
Why Keto Chocolate Cottage Cheese Mousse?
Blended cottage cheese is surprisingly silky. It gives this mousse a creamy, whipped texture without needing any cream or thickener. Plus, it’s high in protein and lower in fat than most keto dessert bases, which makes it feel a bit more balanced (without tasting like a compromise).
How to Make It
Just toss everything in a blender or food processor and let it run until smooth. That’s it. A few tips:
- Use full-fat cottage cheese (like 4%) for best results. Low-fat cottage cheese works, but the texture is slightly thinner.
- Sweetener matters: Powdered erythritol, monk fruit blend, or allulose are best. Granulated options can be gritty unless melted first.
- Chill before serving if you want a firmer texture, but it’s great right out of the blender too.
Serving Ideas
- Top with a few keto-friendly berries (think raspberries or strawberries)
- Dust with extra cocoa powder or a few cacao nibs
- Layer with coconut whipped cream or almond butter swirl for mousse “cups”
Storage
This mousse keeps well in the fridge for 4 – 5 days. Store in an airtight container or individual ramekins for grab-and-go treats.
Can You Use Other Cheese?
Ricotta or cream cheese can work, but both are higher in fat and change the taste. Ricotta gives a grainier finish, while cream cheese is much richer. If you’re after that whipped-light texture, stick with cottage cheese.
